Crete, the Greek paradise island... I had the pleasure to visit Crete in spring of 2019 because of my work. (I sometimes love my job for creating these kinds of magnificent travel opportunities. 😊) Although the actual journey to reach Crete was a little long and difficult, it was worth it.

Our first flight was to Athens. (I'll talk about Athens in another post) Then we took a connected flight to Crete and then in order to reach our final destination we had an hour and a half long car ride.

Before starting the actual blog, let me summarize what i really loved about Crete, the nature, the colors of the island, the weather, the food..

Because this was a business trip for me I haven't had the time to experience Crete as a holiday but with what I've seen this place is an ideal destination for a romantic summer getaway with your loved ones.

The nature of Crete has a typical Greece and Mediterranean atmosphere. Warming sun, lots and lots of olive trees and a beautiful tranquil sea.

So this blog post is going to a lot of amazing photographs rather than me trying to explain the beauty.

Soak in the amazing scenery

Anywhere you look the scenery, the view is breathtaking. The sky looks amazing, the sea is inviting and when you breathe clean air fills your lungs. With the peaceful atmosphere just sitting down in your hotel room balcony and sipping on a cold beer will simply be an amazing experience.

Tour around the village center

Walk around the village center before dinner, you'll see some friendly people going on with their daily lives. Go for shopping for the local goods before finding yourself a perfect spot for a Greek dinner.

Taste some amazing seafood, don't forget to drink ouzo

I'm a vegetarian for nearly a year now but I have to confess that I loved the seafood I've tasted in Crete before I became a vegetarian. In general Mediterranean food is really tasty. Trust your server and ask for something you've never tried before. Especially ask for the traditional Mediterranean appetizers and of course you definitely need to have ouzo.

Experience some Greek culture

To finalize your day on a high note, I definitely suggest a true Greek entertainment. We had the chance to watch a local dance group after our dinner while enjoying our ouzo. Even dance ourselves afterwards. But most fun is of course to break some plates. True Greek entertainment never ends before breaking lots and lots of plates. Relieve stress.😊

See you in another journey...
