My Dubrovnik adventure started very eventful. So I wanted to include a small story time before starting the travel blog. 😊
We had a direct flight from Istanbul to Dubrovnik, everything was going smoothly until we arrived at Dubrovnik. Because of a very strong wind that day, captain tried to land the plane for a whole hour without any luck ! After a while, as passengers, we really didn't know what was happening until an announce came and the captain informed us that because of the wind we were not going to be able to land in Dubrovnik and we were heading to another airport. To Podgorica. Another country ! So we found ourselves in Montenegro rather than Croatia. A bus was arranged by Turkish Airlines and after our very very long flight we endured another 4 hours of bus drive and finally arrived at our hotel past midnight, exhausted and ready for a long rest.
But the view that we woke up to in the morning changed everything. It made everything worthwhile.
Start your day with a fulfilling breakfast and put your walking shoes and step out to this beautiful city.

Tour around the city
Day or night the streets of this beautiful city, bustling with people has a great atmosphere. There are no dull moments while you are walking around and experiencing the daily life in Dubrovnik. I definitely suggest visiting this paradise like city in spring, early or late summer. You'll get the most out of this city, plus it is a good idea to bring your swimming suit. You'll find lots of lovely restaurants all around the town. My suggestion for lunch would be; calamari with a cold beer, a good bowl of spaghetti or a steaming pizza with a nice glass of wine in an Italian restaurant.
Tour the Old Town
Dubrovnik's Old Town is known to be the best preserved medieval town. Touring the Old Town, walking through it's streets will feel like a time travel. You'll fell like transferred back to medieval times.

Cathedrals
Generally all of the classical European cities have the most fascinating churches and cathedrals and Dubrovnik is not excluded. You'll find yourself adoring the images on the walls and the sculptures. Don't forget to light a candle before you leave.
Lokrum Island
Dubrovnik has a neighbor island, Lokrum Island. I haven't been on the island but the scenery is amazing from Dubrovnik. There are boat tours which will take you there but it is best to know that other than swimming maybe there are not many activities that you can do on the island.
Forts and city walls
A medieval city won't be completed with a strong fort, a gloomy castle and stone walls. City is hugged by majestic stone walls and you can tour many forts and castles around city. My suggestion, for a dinner idea, near the castle in the city center there is an amazing Italian restaurant, you can try the black risotto and open a good good wine. Enjoy the warm breeze, the fascinating scenery of a medieval city and take a sip of some delicious wine.

In summary, Dubrovnik gets an ultimate approval for a vacation destination. Try visiting the city in spring or summer (avoid mid-summer for too much heat). Minimum of 3-4 days visit would be optimal for Dubrovnik, in order to sink in the mystical medieval atmosphere, enjoy the cuisine, drink some tasty wines and soak in the sun.
